The company recently portrayed its commitment to give back to society by initiating a number of community-benefiting activities in Armenia recently."LG practices the value of giving back to society with a variety of social programmes that are addressed to people across cultures," said Mr. H.S. Paik, President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE. "We hope with this approach to benefit societies, build trust and secure business sustainability, which is only possible by becoming a responsible and caring corporate citizen."
ZATIK Orphan House in Qanager and Mari Izmiryan Orphan House in Armenia, each looking after around 95 orphans, have both received TV room sets comprising of a television and home theatre to entertain their wards and provide them the same opportunities as all other children.
Furthermore, LG has also established computer classes for GAIT School and Ruben Sevak School, which would allow underprivileged students to learn about computers, use the latest technology, explore the world and get the same access to information and knowledge as any other child in the world.
The IT rooms were each equipped with a number of technological facilities, including computers, laser printers, projectors, table chairs, Internet, wireless adaptors and router desks among other things. Around 300 students in GAIT School and 500 others in Ruben Sevak School will benefit from this generous gesture.
LG has also volunteered to establish a living room environment in an old age home in Yerevan where about 260 people are housed. The room will feature the latest LG TV and a home theatre system so that residents and visitors can keep in touch with the world, and enjoy movies and programmes.
LG Electronics is no stranger to such activities as it operates its corporate citizenship programmes in many other countries and through several initiatives by forming partnerships between labour and management, executives and employees, customers and local community citizens, and related NPO/NGOs. They focus on the areas of social welfare, education and cultural activities by means of sponsorship, financial aid and volunteer work.
